Ministry Opportunities
Our Europe Missions Trip uses music as a tool for evangelism. As we travel through France, Italy, and Spain, every team member participates in the choir and chamber orchestra, presenting selections from Handel’s Messiah and other sacred music.
During each concert, the local pastor shares the gospel message. This approach helps us reach people who may never attend a Bible-believing church but are willing to come to a free concert. Through the beauty of music, we have a unique opportunity to introduce audiences to the hope of Jesus Christ and connect them with local churches.
A typical day on the Europe Missions Trip will be busy and rewarding. Team members should be prepared for travel between cities, finding time for rehearsals, and helping promote upcoming concerts. Outreach often includes distributing flyers in public areas and singing in the streets to invite people to attend the concerts.
The day may also include performing a concert, participating in church services, spending time in fellowship with local believers, and taking part in youth activities. Each day presents opportunities to serve through music, encourage local churches, and share the gospel with people across France, Italy, and Spain.
Music Ministry
Throughout the trip, team members will be actively involved in a variety of ministry opportunities. The primary outreach will be evangelistic music concerts presented by the choir and chamber orchestra, featuring selections from Handel’s Messiah and other Christ-centered music.
Team members will also assist with concert promotion through personal invitations, flyer distribution, and street singing.
Church Ministries
In addition to the concerts, the team will participate in church services, youth activities, evangelistic events, and fellowship with local believers. These ministries provide opportunities to encourage missionaries and pastors, strengthen local churches, and build relationships with people who may be hearing the gospel for the first time. Through music, personal interaction, and the preaching of God’s Word, team members will help support the ongoing ministry efforts of churches across Europe.

Their prayer is that God will allow them to train leaders, disciple new believers, and see new churches planted in Italy.

Andrew and Sephora Livingstone have a passion to see lost souls in central France come to faith in Christ for salvation. Since 2021, the Livingstones have ministered in local church ministry and led Camp Rainbow, a Christian camp in Larodde, France. Their mission has touched the lives of many in the region—they’ve seen souls saved and disciples become faithful in the ministry.
Spain
the land
Spain is extremely mountainous, with a large central plateau. This plateau is divided into two major mountainous areas: the Sistema Central and the Montes de Toledo mountain ranges. Along the edges are other mountain ranges, including the Galaico massif, the Cantábrica range, the Sistema Ibérico, and Sierra Morena. The Bética and Catalan ranges and the Pyrenees are the most peripheral mountain systems. The highest points in the country are the Teide, on the island of Tenerife, Mulhacén in Granada, and Aneto in the Pyrenees.
the people
Spanish people are friendly, highly educated, and very polite, with a population of 40.5 million. There are many who have never heard the gospel. The major language is Castilian Spanish. After General Franco’s death in 1975, the authoritarian regime was transformed into a democratic government with King Juan Carlos as head of State. Historically, the Roman Catholic Church has predominated the life and culture of the country. Evangelicals and Baptists have suffered persecution in the past. Religion of any kind has been replaced in the lives of many by humanism and materialism as the nation has become more prosperous.
the missions work
During the final week, the team will partner with churches in and around Barcelona, using concerts, church services, youth activities, and personal interaction to encourage believers and share the gospel.
France
the land
Saint-Gaudens is located in the southwestern part of France. Sitting within sight of the Pyrenees Mountains, the city has beautiful views and cool breezes, even occasionally in the summer. The French are, of course, known for their cuisine—especially the bread and cheese, and Saint-Gaudens is no exception!
the people
The French people are often hesitant about accepting religion. Most ministries built in France take much time to grow (Dr. David Price’s research has shown an average of 30 years for a fully mature church). The church uses many different outreach ministries to get the gospel in front of the people. Once a person has shown interest in the gospel or church, the development of a relationship over time has proven to be the best way to lead people to a profession of faith and to attendance in church.
the missions work
During the first week, the team will serve in churches across France, including Saint-Gaudens, Larodde, and Paris, encouraging local believers through concerts, church services, youth activities, and personal interaction.
Italy
the land
Italy is a unitary parliamentary republic in South-Central Europe, located primarily upon the Italian Peninsula. It is where Ancient Rome originated as a small agricultural community about the 8th century BC, which spread over the course of centuries into the colossal Roman empire, encompassing the whole Mediterranean Basin and spreading Roman culture and civilization across the empire. This civilization was so influential that parts of it survive in modern law, administration, philosophy, and arts, providing the groundwork that the Western world is based upon.
the people
Italy is a stronghold of Catholicism, with most of the nation identifying as Catholic. There are also several religious minorities in the country, including Muslims, Protestants, Jews, and Jehovah’s Witnesses, and about 20% of Italians are unaffiliated with any religion.
the missions work
During the second week, the team will minister in cities throughout Italy, including Grosseto, Pisa, and Rome, using concerts, church services, youth activities, and personal interaction to strengthen Christian fellowship and share the gospel.
Field
This mission trip provides an exceptional opportunity to minister in churches across three European countries over a period of three weeks. During the first week, we will serve in churches in France, including Saint-Gaudens, Larodde, and Paris, before concluding the week in Geneva, Switzerland. The second week will be spent in Italy, ministering in cities such as Grosseto, Pisa, and Rome. During the final week, we will partner with churches in and around Barcelona, Spain. Through concerts, church services, youth activities, and personal interaction with local believers, our team will have the opportunity to encourage churches, strengthen Christian fellowship, and share the gospel with people throughout Europe.
History
In 2010, Dr. and Mrs. Pierre Willems led the first YOM Europe Teams to Saint-Gaudens, France, where the team served alongside local missionaries through church projects, children’s ministry, literature distribution, and evangelistic outreach.
From 2016-2018 the team returned to France, assisting with church construction, community outreach, and ministry programs. In 2024, the ministry expanded to evangelistic sacred music concerts, inspired by French pastor Didier Silberstien’s vision for using music to connect with local people. Since then, the ministry has grown rapidly, presenting concerts and sharing the gospel across Europe.
highlights from past trips
The highlights of previous Europe Missions Trips have gone far beyond the concerts themselves. The enthusiastic reception of the inaugural concert in Italy confirmed that evangelistic music concerts could be a powerful tool for gospel outreach. Audiences frequently requested encores, and the team often responded by improvising additional hymns and vocal solo selections.
For many team members, the greatest highlights have been the relationships developed with faithful pastors and churches throughout Europe. The ministries of Pastor Frank Maietta in Italy, Pastor Didier Silberstein in France, and Pastor Josh Valcárcel in Spain have been a tremendous source of encouragement and inspiration. Their dedication to serving Christ and reaching their communities has given team members a better understanding of both the challenges and opportunities of ministry in Europe.
Previous teams have also been deeply impacted by seeing the spiritual needs of Europe firsthand. While many people have a familiarity with Christianity through history and culture, there remains a great need for the clear presentation of the gospel. At the same time, Europeans have been warm, respectful, and very receptive to the team, expressing genuine appreciation for both the music and the message it supports.
The trip also provides the opportunity to experience Europe's remarkable beauty, history, and cultural heritage. From historic churches and ancient cities to breathtaking landscapes, team members gain a greater appreciation for the rich heritage of the countries they visit while ministering alongside believers who are faithfully serving Christ today.
