Why go on a missions trip?

Grow a passion for missions.

God calls all Christians to help with missions—whether through full-time service, short-term trips, or prayers and financial giving.

Maybe you already feel called to full-time missions. Or maybe you’re not quite sure. Going on a missions trip can help you see how God wants you to serve.

As you witness on the field and learn from experienced missionaries, you’ll develop a passion for spreading the gospel to every person around the world.

Step out of your comfort zone.
When you leave your home “bubble,” you’ll find new opportunities to obey God’s calling and to use your spiritual gifts for the cause of Christ. See for yourself how God prepares us to serve Him when we invest in eternal things!
Make lasting friendships.
As a team, you’ll prepare, travel, and serve together. Along the way, you’ll make new friends—you might even build relationships that last the rest of your life!
Gain a love for evangelism.

God has an amazing way of using missions trips to give us a greater burden for the lost and increase our passion for soul-winning.

Even after your trip is over, you’ll want to keep growing your love for evangelism. You’ll start seeing conversations with neighbors, coworkers, and classmates as opportunities to share salvation.

Encourage others with your testimony.
Your missions work isn’t over when you get back home. As you tell others about God’s provision and blessing, you can help move them toward a greater love for missions. God wants to use you as a catalyst for this kind of passion!

No matter your finances or other constraints in your life, pray about the possibility of a short-term missions trip and open your heart to God’s leading. You won’t regret this experience and the privilege of sharing Christ across the globe.

Team Member Testimonies

Receiving a missions team is always a great help and blessing. The people of the church are always encouraged by the visit. It is a great blessing having the extra help to accomplish special projects, whether it is in evangelization or building projects. One of the greatest highlights is to see God working in the hearts of the team members as they consider how they can serve the Lord with their lives.

Year after year we look forward to hosting the well-trained missionary teams from Youth Outreach Ministry. They are a blessing to our family, filling our home with warm, friendly fellowship and tastes of home. They fill our churches with encouragement, as our members see these young people step out in faith and cross the globe to be a testimony for Jesus Christ. They fill our Christian schools with laughter, games, songs, stories, and most importantly the gospel. Each year they have come they have led more than 100 people to Christ each time on these 10-14 day missions trips. Many of these godly young people have stayed in contact with us for years after their visit. As a veteran missionary of 22 years in Ghana, West Africa, I highly recommend the ministry of Youth Outreach Ministry.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts once again for spending a few days with us to exhort and inspire especially our young ones to love and serve the Lord. I know doing this trip year by year is a huge sacrifice that only the Lord can reward in eternity, but I trust you all know it’s a time well spent in the service of our King.

Your visits are always an exciting part of our events calendar. Though only short, they are always filled with immense zeal for God, Christ-honouring conduct, compelling messages, captivating programs and activities, heartfelt fellowship and certainly wonderful memories to influence the young lives in our church to follow our precious Saviour.

Grace, mercy and peace to you all on the remaining part of your 2018 adventure! We will be praying for your safe return home soon and as everybody settles into their new schedules and environment in the coming year. May our Lord continue to use your lives wonderfully for His honor and glory.

Australia is a land of extremes. You have the big bustling cities, the amazing beaches, and the rugged Outback. The Lord has called our family to reach out into the rural, Outback towns of Queensland. These areas can be very isolated and many struggle to cope with the issues that those in the big cities don’t have to deal with.

YOM Team Australia is the first team that we have had the privilege to take with us on our travels. They were a wonderful group of young people that were willing to do whatever was needed. In these rural outback towns, you have to be very flexible; you never know what is going to happen. The team did an amazing job of running an after-school Bible Club, helping to give the gospel out in 17 different outback towns, cooked meals for large groups of people, and were an encouragement to our three churches out there.

We traveled many dry, dusty, dirt roads together and got to show them so many unique animals and places. Our hearts were truly knit with the team by the end of our time with them, and it was very hard to see them leave. We look forward to hopefully hosting many more YOM teams in the future!

There is nothing like laboring together in the gospel! Working together for the cause of world evangelism is the greatest work in all the world. It was my privilege to work with one of the Youth Outreach Ministry teams during a recent campaign in Australia. As an evangelist I was blessed by their desire to help the local church and reach the lost with the message of Christ. The team was well-trained and directed by Spirit-filled leaders. God used each of them. It is my prayer that God will raise up an army of such young people for the gospel’s sake. Working with the Lord is the adventure of a lifetime.

Ministry trips are always a great investment, and for several reasons: First, you get to travel and sample different cultures. You have the privilege of representing the Lord Jesus Christ, your country, your local church and your college. You will have amazing witnessing opportunities, especially among young Aussies. You get to labour with and maybe even learn from established local Australian churches and pastors. You get to help establish newer churches. You will witness people coming to Christ. You’ll have opportunities to encourage other believers. You will be challenged physically, mentally and most importantly, spiritually. And last, God will be glorified through your faithfulness in service.

I cannot speak highly enough of YOM Team Outreach Australia. I was privileged to spend some time with the team at several locations across my travels, and to talk at length with a few. To a person, the team worked tirelessly, behaved impeccably and gave of themselves unselfishly.
